The meeting of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), an alliance of the Madhesh-based parties, has decided to intensify its agitation.
The Front's meeting that began in Rajbiraj at 8 pm on Tuesday and continued well through to Wednesday afternoon decided to block the entry points with India.
It also reached a series of other decisions to change the course of future agitation. They have decided to give continuity to transportation strike, but decided to open markets. In addition to closing border points, they have decided to target banks and financial institutions in a bid to intensify protests.
Chairman of Federal Socialist Party Upendra Yadav, Vice-chair Renu Yadav, Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party chairman Mahanta Thakur and vice-chair Hridayesh Tripathi, among others, were present in the meeting.
